Affordability

Davidson leads the industry on affordability initiatives by meeting 100 percent of demonstrated financial need with a combination of grants and student employment.  Financial aid packages do not include a loan component.

Davidson believes that  its educational offerings should be affordable for every admitted student, regardless of a family’s financial means.  With its commitment to need-blind admission, a student’s character, accomplishments, and academic potential are the only factors in the decision—not the ability to pay.

Each academic year, Davidson provides over $17,000,000 in student financial assistance, offering a full range of need and merit-based financial aid options.

Financial Aid Goals:

• Students are not burdened by loans.  Begining with the 2007-2008 academic year, students at the college will have 100 percent of their demonstrated need met with a combination of grants and student employment. Financial aid packages will no longer include a loan component, so a student will not graduate with a burdensome debt.
• Students can count on their aid.  Financial aid can be used for study abroad, and aid remains constant throughout your four years, if a family’s financial circumstances stay the same.
• Scholarships recognize merit. Merit awards are not made in a competitive spirit, but as a way to salute accomplishment and potential, and help gather a class of diverse and gifted students who will learn from and inspire one another in a community of honor and opportunity.
