Journey through the land of William Wallace, Robert Louis Stevenson, and John Knox with Davidson College President Robert F. Vagt '69 and wife Ruth Anne. This nine-day trip (June 21-30, 2003) to the home of Presbyterianism will begin in Glasgow and include visits to Loch Lomond, the Isles of Mull and Skye, Glen Coe, and Edinburgh. After landing at Glasgow, our Scottish journey begins with a night at Loch Lomond, then onward to deluxe accommodations at the Isle of Eriska. Traveling along the coast to the Isles of Mull and Skye, we'll arrive at legendary Glen Coe in the Scottish Highlands. Inverlochy Castle, our home for two nights in Glen Coe, boasts stunning views of the loch and mountains. We'll drive the scenic roads of Scotland and stop for Davids-exclusive visits to palaces, castles, and other historic sites. Private tours and lunches with Scottish nobility are planned. After a day trip by ferry to the Isle of Skye and a second night at Inverlochy, we'll travel to the Scottish Borders, where we'll stay at one of Scotland's finest country house hotels, The Roxburghe Hotel and Golf Course.
The luxury 22-bedroom hotel provides an intimate atmosphere with open log fires, elegant four-poster suites, and converted stable rooms. We'll close our time together with a farewell dinner aboard the Royal Yacht Brittania and depart from Edinburgh. This Davidson vacation promises to engage you to the fullest and to provide once-in-a-lifetime memories. Travel Home Page
