A Seven-Night Cruise in the Greek Isles (October 3-11, 2004) President Emeritus John ‘59 and Missy Kuykendall joined 30 alumni and friends on an unforgettable voyage through the birthplace of ancient civilization. This seven-night cruise explored the Greek Islands of the Aegean Sea combining the natural beauty of crystal clear waters and warm sea breezes with the cultures, traditions, and relics of a glorious and ancient past. The tour included visits to the fabulous beaches and famous windmills of Mykonos/Delos, some of the best preserved Greco-Roman monuments in the world in Kusadai, the Island of Patmos, which holds the monastery of the apocalypse and the site of the revelations of St. John the Divine. They also visited the Island of Rhodes which is home to ruins of the temple of Athena, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Island of Santorini where they tasted the local wine, the Island of Naxos where they saw the temple of Apollo from the 6th century B.C. and finally, Athens where they could select an optional two-day extension. Travelers enjoyed all of this while cruising aboard the M.S. Andrea, a recently renovated luxury ship. With a capacity of only 100 passengers it is small enough to negotiate narrower passageways, the ship sacrifices no amount of luxury.
