London Theatre Tour

Trip Dates:  May 16-22, 2005 (Co-sponsored with Friends of the Arts)

Join Chair of the Theatre Department Ann Marie Costa and Director of Friends of the Arts Sherry Malushizky on a festive exploration of London theatre as well as a trip to Stratford-upon-Avon.

The tour will include four to five theatre shows (including two musicals and a production by the Royal Shakespeare Company), a stay at a lovely hotel in London, a guided tour of Kensington palace, a visit to Stratford, guided tours of the new Globe theatre and the National Theatre in London, a master class in Elizabethan theatre with the Director of the Globe Education Patrick Spottiswoode, optional museum visits and much more. Following most evening performances, join the group at a local pub for lively discussions lead by Professor Costa.

In addition to experiencing the dynamic energies of London, the tour will shift gears by traveling to Stratford-upon-Avon. We will stay in a charming bed and breakfast in this quaint historical English town. Besides seeing a Shakespeare play performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company in their home theatre, participants will visit Anne Hathaway's home and Shakespeare's birthplace combined with opportunities for London's afternoon tea and window shopping.
