Financial Aid for Study Abroad

Financial assistance comes in many forms. Examples include: merit, athletic or any other type of scholarship, state, and/or need based grants, parent or student loans.  If you are a North Carolina resident, you will receive the North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grant which is considered financial aid.

Please note: there is no money available from the Davidson College Financial Aid Office for summer study abroad.

For Davidson College study abroad programs:
For students participating in Davidson College study abroad programs during the academic year, all of your financial aid is processed by the Financial Aid Office the same way as if you were going to be on campus.  You are not required to complete the Off-Campus Financial Aid Agreement form.

For approved non-Davidson study abroad programs ONLY:
Students who receive ANY type of financial assistance during the academic year, that is processed by the Davidson College Financial Aid Office, must complete the Off-Campus Financial Aid Agreement.  This enables the Financial Aid Office to transfer these funds to you so you can pay your non-Davidson study abroad program.

If you are receiving any type of assistance or are unsure as to whether or not you are required to complete the Off-Campus Financial Aid Agreement, please check with Diane Brown in the Financial Aid Office.

For International Students:
Beginnning fall, 2008 international students will be permitted to use their Davidson financial aid to participate in Davidson and non-Davidson study abroad programs during the academic year.  However, they will not be able to use their financial aid to participate in programs in their home country.
