Debra Susanne Dillon Darden '78 (Year Awarded--1998) Ever since her first days here as a cheerleader, her smiling face has brought to Davidson a special warmth and friendliness. She has yet to give up her efforts to lead Davidson to victory. Living in Charlotte, she has remained close to the Davidson community and has graciously continued to serve alma mater. Despite keeping busy with her family, her church, and her many other community activities, she has kept Davidson close at heart. As a student, Debbie learned the value of becoming involved in the Davidson Community. She unveiled her enthusiasm not only as a cheerleader, but as a Guttman Honor Scholar, an Admissions Tour Guide, and an editor for Quips and Cranks. When she left Davidson she did not leave behind her commitment to service. As an alumna she has served Davidson with enthusiasm as class secretary, Annual Fund co-chair, member of the Alumni Association Board, and class agent. As a member of the Davidson Athletic Foundation board, she served on its search committee for a new director. She has nothing other than a giving heart as she practices the kind of service Davidson teaches, giving not only to Davidson but to her church and community. She is an active member of the Charlotte Junior League, President Elect of the Sharon Elementary School PTA, and a Sunday School teacher at Myers Park Presbyterian Church. Because you have given of yourself so completely and generously, and because you do so with such a caring, humble spirit, we honor you, Debra Susanne Dillon Darden, with the Alumni Service Award on the occasion of your 20th Reunion.
