Thomas Jefferson III '59 (Year Awarded--1996) Davidsonians possess a keen sense of place. The campus welcomes freshmen with warm breezes and magnificent trees; the stately buildings remind upper classmen of the pride that integrity engenders; and the celebrating church bells send out graduates into the wider world with the wish of God-Speed. Then, over subsequent decades the Georgian residence halls inhabited with memories and the green playing fields and the noble character of Chambers Building whisper to alumni and friends to return. Tom Jefferson's heart has never wandered far from Davidson. During his alumni years, he has served it with distinction as a fundraiser and a leader. His duties included being an Annual Fund Agent, a Ne Ultra Agent, a Campaign for Davidson Committee Member in Richmond, a Chapter President, a Reunion Chairman, and Alumni Board Member. Just as importantly, the quality of his effort - reliable, respectful, gentlemanly - has enhanced Davidson's cause. Because you understand that the human spirit enlivens real estate and that the youthful pursuit of truth and honesty enlivens the Davidson Campus, the Alumni Association gratefully recognizes your lifelong service to Davidson College as it presents you, Thomas Jefferson III, class of 1959, its Alumni Service Award.
