John Hume Killian '63
(Year Awarded--1996)

When a volunteer leader provides steady, competent leadership over many years, the College and her alumni come to appreciate him as both a worker and a friend. His loyalty inspires other alumni and friends to support Davidson, and they sense the abiding commitment that he and others hold for alma mater.

He served as president for the Class of 1963 and brought that particularly strong class back to campus through his efforts as Reunion Chairman. He has helped raise money for the Annual Fund. More recently, he co-chaired the successful Asheville Regional Campaign for the Campaign for Davidson. The quality of his service has been exemplary.

Because your respect for Davidson manifests itself in diligence with which you have served her and because you have performed your volunteer duties with good natured reliability, the Alumni Association thanks you John Killian, with this Alumni Service Award at this gathering of your Davidson friends in Asheville, North Carolina.
