Robert Fredrick Vagt '69
His incredible energy revealed itself to us during his student days when he swam on the varsity team, worked with freshmen as a hall counselor, trained in ROTC to become a commissioned officer and belonged to the interfraternity council. Since then, his enthusiasm has fueled a variety of organizations: prisons in North Carolina, public benefit corporations in New York, and an oil and gas company - Global Natural Resources, Inc. - here in Houston.
Fortunately, he has had time and interest also for Davidson during his busy career and family times. After years as an Annual Fund Class Agent and Class Chairman, he served with distinction as the National Chairman of the Annual Fund from 1993 to 1995. In addition, he served on the Houston Regional Campaign Committee for our successful Campaign for Davidson. Fellow volunteers found his loyalty inspiring, college staff felt challenged by his keen mind, and all of us responded to his engaging humor.
Because you push us to run harder for Davidson and because your energy proves again and again that volunteers constitute a precious resource, the Alumni Association presents you, Bobby Vagt '69, with its Alumni Service Award.
