His neighbors in Raleigh know him as an involved community leader, whose considerable efforts have benefited the Raleigh Merchants Bureau, the Chamber of Commerce, the Rex Hospital, the North Carolina Symphony, the Boy Scouts, and other causes. As executive vice president of the Belk-Hudson-Leggett Company, he helped to build that important business.

Davidson alumni and staff know him as a wonderful volunteer. In fact, he has provided leadership for the College in almost every possible way. As a Chapter President, Annual Fund Chairman, Trustee, and Campaign for Davidson Regional Chairman, he has supported Davidson steadily and consistently.

Karl Hudson, because you have remained faithful to Davidson over the decades and because you have served alma mater quietly and competently, the Alumni Association presents to you this Alumni Service Award with our deep gratitude and affection.
