Prosser S. (Sandy) Carnegie '50 (Year Awarded--1994) During his student days, he blocked and tackled as a starting lineman on the football team. Then he carried that competitiveness from the gridiron to a career in sales and promotion. Fortunately, he brought that Wildcat Spirit back to Davidson in 1972 as the Executive Director of the Wildcat Club. Despite two decades of upheaval in the football program, rapid turn over with basketball coaches, and tenuous conference affiliation, he has remained with the team on game day -- ready to make a tackle, if necessary -- worked behind the scenes to maintain the support of alumni, and encouraged countless athletes. His solid figure steadied the program. Because you have shown us the meaning of loyalty and continually reminded us of the beauty of the student-athlete, the Alumni Association expresses its deep affection and presents you, Prosser S. (Sandy) Carnegie, this Alumni Service Award.
