STARING, art exhibition
Inspired by Rosemarie Garland-Thomson's book Staring: How We Look, the exhibit extends the book’s novel exploration into the valuable possibilities of the complicated, and often forbidden, act of staring, October 16 - December 9 in the Van Every Gallery, Belk Visual Arts Center.

Each year, Teach For America selects a corps of approximately 2,000 individuals, provides them extensive training during summer institutes, places them as full-time, paid teachers in public schools, and coordinates an ongoing network to support them during their two years as teachers and beyond.

Dan Boye, chair of Davidson’s physics department, will give a lecture titled “Hollow Nanoparticles Made Easy.” Free. 4 p.m. in Dana 146 with refreshments served at 3:45 p.m.

6:45 pm Math Coffee: "A MAGIC Summer" Mark Trawick ‘10
This student will talk about his summer research work with Dr. Heyer on the Java open source software MAGIC Tool (MicroArray Genome Imaging and Clustering). The talk will discuss the new features and aspects of working with a large program developed by many different people.
7:00 pm Sophomore Destinations: Student Travelers
Talk with a panel of students who have studied abroad.
