Diana Titus-Allen Waller '89
(Year Awarded--1999)

From the moment that Diana Titus-Allen Waller arrived on campus, you would have thought that she had been born a Wildcat. Her natural enthusiasm, tenacity, and gregarious nature were distinctive early in her Davidson career. She immersed herself in the College Union, and as a valued member of the Union Board, earned the coveted C. Shaw Smith Award for dedicated service to the College Union. She was a member of Warner Hall and was named in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. In the midst of immersing herself in college life, she also made the effort to reach beyond her fellow students to develop life-long friendships with staff, faculty, and townspeople.

Since graduating from Davidson in 1989, Diana's energy in supporting all things Davidson has not diminished. Her enthusiastic involvement in the Washington, D.C., chapter of the Davidson Alumni Admission program shortly after graduation propelled her into the leadership role of Washington's DAAP chair. In the few years after graduation, Diana also managed to devote time to the Annual Fund boosting the Class of '89's participation to reach an all-time high of fifty-two percent. That year, the class of 1989 received the Buddy Kemp Award for highest class participation in a young alumni class. This year, again, Diana has stepped forward to serve as an Annual Fund chair, as the Class of '89 strives to break the fifty percent alumni participation threshold once again! Diana is most known, however, for serving her classmates faithfully as class secretary for ten years, keeping them informed about each other and connected with Davidson, always mindful to give a cheery update about her life too!

Because you have delighted in your service to Davidson and encouraged others to do the same, because you inspire others to your same high standard of service, and because you always answer alma mater's call with enthusiasm, the Alumni Association proudly presents you, Diana Titus-Allen Waller, Class of 1989, with its Young Alumni Service Award on the occasion of the 10th reunion of the Class of 1989, October 2, 1999.
