Distinguished Alumnus Award

Southwood Jelks Morcott '60
(Year Awarded--1995)

Growing a corporation into the ranks of the Fortune 100 requires enlightened leadership. Woody Morcott has brought Dana Corporation, which manufactures vehicular and industrial components, creativity and drive during the nine years he has been president and the five years he has been chairman of the board.

Dana Corporation operates in twenty-seven countries with 40,000 employees. In 1994 it enjoyed sales of $6.6 billion and profits of $228 million. Under Woody's initiative, its overseas operations now contribute 30% of sales. Also because of his foresight, each employee spends a significant number of hours each year on education to keep up with changes in technology, whether they are executives or lathe operators. He has proven to be innovative and proactive in this competitive, international industry.

In addition to being involved in national and state business organizations, he has donated his leadership to non-profit organizations in Toledo--principally the United Way and the Toledo Museum of Art.

The Alumni Association proudly congratulates you, Southwood J. Morcott, on your success with Dana Corporation, and recognizes your impressive leadership in industry and community with this Distinguished Alumnus Award, presented before your classmates during their 35th Reunion.
