The Maxwell Chambers Society bears the name of this early benefactor whose bequest set the college on a new course, and for whom the Chambers Building was named. The Chambers Society allows Davidson to thank friends who have told Davidson of their plans for future support through their estates. Trust Benefactors are donors who have made a commitment that conveys to Davidson an interest in property while the donors retain an interest - usually lifetime income or use of the property - for themselves or another named beneficiary. Qualifying gifts: Irrevocable charitable remainder trusts; other irrevocable trusts; gift annuities; pooled income fund accounts; life estates such as future interests in a residence or farm. Bequest Benefactors are donors who have made a commitment through a will, living trust, or other revocable document that provides for the property to pass on to Davidson in the future but allows the donors to retain the right to alter and amend the will, trust, or other document. Qualifying gifts: Bequests, whatever their nature, residuary, specific, percentage; revocable trusts; beneficiary designation under IRAs, CDs, pension plans, deferred compensation plans, etc. For information on bequests, planned giving, or the Maxwell Chambers Society, please contact Director of Planned Giving James Gibert '79, J.D., at 704-894-2469.
