Reading advertised vacancies is a great way to learn about the kinds of internships in which you are interested so that you can tell people about your interests.
Advertised Vacancies
eCareers Internships nationwide are posted through our on-line system and can be accessed by logging into your eCareers account. You can search for positions based on criteria including geographic location, type of position, and industry preference.
Internship-USA Internships from over 2,000 organizations offering internships for college and law students. Click on Internship Series On-Line and it will take you to a variety of internship listings, from Sports internships to Washington DC Law and Politics internships. Contact careers@davidson.edu for username and password.
Career Services Books The Internship Bible, by the Princeton Review, National Director of Arts Internships, by the National Network for Artist Placement, and Internships 2006, by Thomson/Peterson’s. Idealist.org Website with over 25,000 nonprofit and community organizations in 153 countries, which you can search or browse by name, location or mission.

Career Services Alumni Information Through your eCareers account, you can access the searchable database of alumni volunteers through the Mentor section. Additionally, the Office of Career Services maintains binders of alumni contact information organized by both vocation and geographic location in the office.
Career Search The Office of Career Services has purchased the right to access CareerSearch, a database of over 1 million employers. It can be searched with very specific requirements related to industry and location. While it does not list position openings, it can be very useful in generating a list of employers to target. College Faculty and Staff College faculty and staff often keep in touch with alumni, other professionals, or have friends and spouses who may be able to give you additional contacts or types of job leads.
Business Journal The Business Journal is a weekly newspaper published in many cities. Reading it regularly can help you generate lists of companies in the news and will keep you informed about industry trends. They also publish annual lists of local organizations. This publication is available in the Career Services Resource library.
