Employee Designations
For purposes of salary administration, eligibility for overtime payments and employee benefits, the college classifies its employees into different categories.
Employee File
All permanent records of staff employees and all benefit and salary change records of faculty employees are maintained in Human Resources.
Employment and Recruitment
Basic responsibility for the determination of staffing needs and for authorizing the recruitment process for vacant positions rests with the President, but is typically delegated to Academic Affairs and Human Resources.
Employment of Relatives and Minors
Policy that governs the hiring of immediate family members of employees and law that restricts the employment of minors.
Occupational Health and Safety
It is the policy of Davidson College to comply fully with the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina and with all applicable federal, state and local regulations.
Orientation and Training
New employee orientation and on-going training opportunities are critical in contributing to the satisfaction and development of Davidson College employees.

Relocation and Moving Expenses
Davidson College recognizes that new employees selected as a result of a national or regional search should be granted some reimbursement of normal moving expenses.
Transfer, Promotion and Classification
During the course of employment, employees may transfer or be promoted. At certain times, the supervisor may request a reclassification of a position as well.
