Spanish - Placement

If you have taken Spanish in high school and wish to continue with Spanish at Davidson, you must follow our three-pronged placement approach. Once you have completed all three steps, please send the results of the web-based placement test to Prof. Rosalba Esparragoza-Scott, Language Coordinator, Department of Hispanic Studies at Davidson College. She will be in touch with you to tell you in which level you should enroll via WebTree. Students planning to continue the study of Spanish must complete the three steps before June 22.
     1) Background information questionnaire in English: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GBDXHFG

     2) Writing sample in Spanish:

     3) The web-based placement test hosted by the Cervantes Institute:

You need not study for this exam, nor are outside materials permitted. Simply do your best. Upon completing the exam, a screen will appear telling you to register for A 2.1,
B 1.2, or something of the like. You must email this information to Prof. Scott because the system does not link to Davidson; she will tell you for what to register.
If you have any questions, please e-mail Prof. Scott at roscott@davidson.edu

Distribution requirement: Several Spanish courses numbered 241 or higher also count toward the distribution requirement in literary studies, creative writing, and rhetoric. See the online catalogue or the information on the schedule page for details.
