Students planning to continue the study of Latin need to complete the Placement Test on the web before June 25. For further information, go to the Latin placement web page.
Login Procedure for the Placement Test Open your web browser and type in the URL for Moodle: http://moodle.davidson.edu Log in using your Davidson network username and your Davidson network password (provided in your letter from Davidson ITS) . The User ID here is based on your name; it is not your Davidson ID number.
Students enrolling in Latin 101 and 201 who have not taken the placement test will be required to do so on the first day of class. After taking the placement test, students may place themselves into Latin 101 or 201 only. Students MAY ENTER INTO LATIN 102 (taught in the Spring only) ONLY AFTER CONSULTATION WITH Dr. Jeanne Neumann before the start of the FALL term. Students scoring above the 201 level should contact Dr. Neumann before registering. They will be invited to an interview to determine possible exemption from the language requirement. Note to students with Latin AP scores of 4 or 5: you must take the web-based placement test to be considered for Latin 201 credit and consequent completion of the language requirement.
See descriptions of more basic Greek and Latin courses or visit the Classics Department web pages for more information regarding study of Greek and Latin.
Distribution: Many courses in Greek or Latin literature satisfy the distribution requirement in literary studies, creative writing, and rhetoric. Consultant the information on the course schedule page.
