Backpacking with Astronomical Flare: September 11 - 13, 2009
Join us for some backpacking in the NC mountains. Get out and see the night sky in the mountains with us.
Beginner Climbing September 18-20, 2009
Take your climbing skills outside and learn the basics of tying in, finding a route, and belaying, or, if you've already mastered the basics, tackle more challenging routes. We are probably headed to Pilot Mountain for two days of top-roping.
Whitewater Canoeing September 25-27, 2009
Learn basic maneuvers and principles of canoe self rescue at the lake campus, then test your new skills on some North Carolina whitewater. A great introduction to paddling, not to mention a chance to play with DO's fleet of canoes. A complete course for first-time paddler.
Wilderness Leadership Skills Course September 29, 2009 - January 10, 2010
Interested in becoming a trip leader for Davidson Outdoors? Want to improve your leadership skills in an outdoor context? Hoping to get a great summer job working for an adventure trekking company? Well, join us for this 8 week course and we will help you on your way. We meet Tuesday nights from 7:00 to 9:30 pm beginning September 29th.
Backpacking with Fall Colors: October 2 - 4, 2009
Fall is such a wonderful to be out on the trail. We will be heading to some mountains where we hope the trees will be in the height of fall color. Our exact destination is to be determined based on the best opportunity for a colorful hike!
Beginner Whitewater Kayaking October 2-4, 2009
Learn basic maneuvers and principles of rolling a kayak in the pool and at the lake campus, then test your new skills on some North Carolina whitewater. A great introduction to paddling, not to mention a chance to play with DO's fleet of kayaks. A complete course for first-time kayakers.
Via Ferrata & Whitewater Rafting October 9-13, 2009
We will climb the way of iron and then we will raft on the whitewater of the Gauley River in West Virginia. After a drive up on Saturday morning, we will climb Sunday and raft Monday morning and then head back to Davidson.
Smoky Mountains and LeConte Lodge Backpacking October 9-13, 2009
Looking for fall colors, robin egg blue skies, and possibly a bit of the white stuff? Join us for some beautiful hiking for Fall Break. Four full days will give us time for an extended hike into the less traveled parts of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Monday night will be spend at the famous Mt. LeConte Lodge.
Fly Fishing October 16 - 18, 2009
Experienced guides will teach you the ins and outs of this graceful and relaxing form of fishing. Casting instruction included.
Distance Road Cycling Weekend October 16-18, 2009
October can be a great time of year to get out for some long rides through the rolling hills and flatlands of the Carolinas. Join us for one or two nights of camping and two days of riding. Helmet, bicycle, and big appetite required for this weekend of riding down the road.
Mountain Biking: November 6-8, 2009
Learn the basics of safe single track technique and enjoy a weekend of excellent mountain scenery.

Everglades Canoeing January 2-10, 2010
It's never chilly in the Everglades! Say farewell to winter break and head south to begin the new year with one of DO's most legendary trips. Canoe from key to key, camp on warm sandy beaches, and maybe even venture up into the swamp for a day in search of exotic wildlife. See what the Everglades has to offer!
Wilderness Advanced First Aid: January 2 - 5, 2010
Davidson Outdoors hosts a WAFA class that is taught by Wilderness Medical Associates. The four day course is great training for anyone heading out into the wilderness.
WFR Bridge Course: January 7 - 10, 2010
Join Davidson Outdoors for this 36 hour upgrade to your WAFA certification. The Wilderness First Responder certification is the industry standard for professionals.
