WebTree registration for the fall semester 2009 will begin for new students on Monday, June 1 and run through 11:59 p.m. (Davidson time) on Tuesday, June 30.   Drop/add or schedule adjustment activity through "Shirley"  will be from Monday, August 3 through Friday, August 14 (for returning students only) and on the Friday of Orientation (for new students only), then on Saturday and Sunday of Orientation (Aug. 22-23, for returning students only) and the week of August 24 (for all students).
WebTree, Davidson's web site for filing original course preferences, will ask for your User ID (the Davidson ID, beginning with 800 or 801) and your PIN. Students presently on campus will receive their PINs from their advisers. For students not currently on campus, whether on leave or new students, the PIN for this registration will be the last four digits of your ID number.

WebTree choices apply to credit courses only. Non-credit courses (physical education, applied music, military science) can and should be added later.  Do not attempt to include non-credit courses on WebTree.

WebTree will ask that you go through each tree (1-4) -- Tree 1, for instance,  contains space for  selections 1, 1A, 1B, 1AA, 1AB, 1BA, and 1BB. You will  enter your course choices by CRN (the 5-digit number found in the course schedule for the semester for which you are registering). If the course requires permission of the instructor, WebTree will ask that you click "yes"--and, of course, you are expected to answer the question honestly.  There is no form that you need to have signed for WebTree registration; later, for drop/add, you would need a form.

The WebTree program will tell you what course the CRN designates; it's a way of checking errors.  (Entering the wrong CRN is all too easy.) The program, by the way, cannot check for time conflicts at the time you enter a CRN for a course. Doing so would make little sense, because there is such a large number of possible combinations of courses that you could wind up getting. For instance, you might put two courses taught at the same time as 1A and 1B, because you get 1B only if 1A is unavailable.

A reminder especially for new students: remember that the WebTree process is based on a lottery.  The computer will not tell you whether you got into a course, because until July 2 or so, no one will have gotten into any course.  All the preferences must be processed together.

IMPORTANT: Until you click "SUBMIT," you may login again and change your choices. Once you've clicked SUBMIT, however, you may make no changes. Don't SUBMIT until you have filled out what you need to on all four "trees."  (The program will process any selections you've made, however, even if you have not clicked the "submit" button.  And despite what one page of the program may tell you, don't worry about submitting a printed copy to anyone; print one for yourself, if you wish.)
