Prof. Poland teaches in the areas of modern religious thought and Christian theology, with special interests in the history of biblical interpretation, gender, and ecology. Publications include Literary Criticism and Biblical Hermeneutics (1985), and numerous essays on Augustine, biblical interpretation, and the sublime. At Davidson since 1990.
