Professor Mahony teaches courses on Hinduism, Buddhism and topics in the comparative study of religion and has special research interest in the contemplative and devotional dimensions of religions originating in India. He is an active participant in Davidson's South Asian Studies Program.
Prof. Mahony’s publications include Exquisite Love: Heart-Centered Reflections on the Narada Bhakti Sutra (Anusara Press), The Artful Universe: An Introduction to the Vedic Religious Imagination (State University of New York Press) and, as co-author, Meditation Revolution: A History and Theology of the Siddha Yoga Lineage (Agama Press). |
He has been a recipient of a National Endowment for the Humanities fellowship, was an editor and major contributor to the first edition of the 16-volume Encyclopedia of Religion (Macmillan Press) and is Past President of the Muktabodha Indological Research Institute.
