Professor Irl Bivens began teaching at Davidson in 1982 after having received his A.B. degree from Pfeiffer College, his Ph.D. from UNC-Chapel Hill, and an Evans Instructorship at Rice University. His teaching specialties include differential geometry and relativity theory, and he regularly offers a history and problem-solving seminar. Professor Bivens has served on the Board of Editors for the College Mathematics Journal, and he collaborates with Professor Davis on new editions of the Anton-Bivens-Davis Calculus. Email Homepage
