President Quillen's "Point of View" article appears in the February 22, 2013 edition of the Charlotte Business Journal.

Gov. Pat McCrory reasonably suggests that higher education should prepare students for securing jobs. However, we rush to judgment in assuming a clear connection between field of study (philosophy, for example) and employability. The governor's remarks beg a more fundamental question: How, in today's economy, can we best prepare talented young people for meaningful careers?
