Bi-annual French Summer Institute July 21-27, 2013
Goals and Organization
Sponsored by the departments of the French and Francophone Studies and Education, and the Office of the Vice-President of Academic Affairs at Davidson College, the Davidson College Summer Institute for French Teachers offers a convenient, affordable, and intellectually stimulating summer format for French teachers to increase their mastery of French and knowledge of French and Francophone literatures and cultures while earning teaching certificate renewal credits (one Davidson credit, equivalent to four semester hours).
All participants are enrolled in three mini-seminars, each meeting one and one-half hours daily for one week. Lunches are treated as French Tables, with the Institute faculty joining the participants for meals and conversation in French. Evenings will feature French films related to the seminar themes. All participants are expected to commit to speaking French only during the week-long Institute.
