Psychological emergencies that occur during office hours are handled promptly at the Student Health and Student Counseling Center. If a student experiences an acute crisis, after the office has closed for the day (i.e., after 5:00pm), on weekends or during certain "breaks" throughout the academic year, with the exception Winter Break and Summer Break, a counselor is on-call and available for phone or face-to-face consultation/counseling.
For those emergencies that take place after regular business hours, please dial 704-894-2451 to be connected to the Counselor On-Call.
Any member of the campus community, including family members of the students, can utilize this service to address a student psychological emergency. Like all other counseling services, the Counselor on Call Service is fully confidential (within the limitations of imminent safety and NC law).
Note: Emergency services are discontinued during semester breaks, once students are no longer in residence at the College.)
