David Palmer is brand new to the Davidson community, having previously been on the Pfeiffer University music faculty since the fall of 1999. Prior to that he lived in Rochester, New York, where he earned a Ph.D. in Music Theory from the Eastman School of Music. While there, he also taught piano, played in bands, and worked as a church music director. Additionally, Dr. Palmer holds a bachelor's degree in Theory and Composition and a master's degree in Piano Pedagogy. Dr. Palmer has been teaching the piano since 1980 to children and adults in English and Spanish. In addition to teaching piano at Davidson, he is active in the greater Charlotte, N.C. music scene as a jazz, rock, and church musician. David has written several articles for The Living Church, Musicae Scientiae, and Progression and released nine CD's of his own compositions.
