R. Andreas Kraemer, Director and CEO of the Berlin environmental policy think tank Ecologic Institute, visited Davidson recently to meet with students, faculty, and administrators. Kraemer led a seminar discussion of his white paper on the future of nuclear power in Europe with a group of faculty and advanced students and also took part in a panel discussion sponsored by the Dean Rusk Program in International Studies on "Traveling Green." In addition, he led a workshop with Career Services director Nathan Elton on getting jobs in environmental policy and in Europe, and, finally, met with faculty and administrators to discuss ways to connect Davidson students to the Ecologic Institutes offices in Berlin, Brussels, or Washington. Kraemer is the founding director of the Ecologic Institute and has worked widely in Germany and the EU as a consultant and policy advisor on a wide range of environmental issues. Davidson alumna Krista Timeus '10 is currently a research assistant and former Konrad von Moltke Fellow at the Ecologic Institute in Berlin. Kraemer also regularly teaches a course for the Duke/Davidson in Berlin program.
