As a professional writer, editor, and reporter, I lean on the skills I learned as an English major every day.
At Davidson, I learned the mechanics of writing and revising under deadline. I learned how to think clearly and expansively about the things people say or write. Perhaps most helpfully, studying for an English major allowed me to experience and react to all sorts of experiences beyond Davidson, thanks to some of humanity's most empathetic and imaginative people – great writers like Joyce, Nabokov, and Shakespeare.
