2) Investigate Your Major and Career Directions

Time Commitment: 3 to 5 Hours

3) Create an Effective Résumé

4) Consider Securing a Summer Internship

Time Commitment: 10 to 30 Hours

Internship experiences are the best way to learn about possible career paths (and they also look great on your resume)! You will want to complete a summer internship before your graduate from Davidson though it is highly recommended that you complete two summer internships to be competitive for full-time jobs. Opportunities are posted throughout the year on WildcatLink, the Nationwide Internships Consortium (NIC), and other databases like Idealist.org and internships.com. Professional connections will also play an important role in helping you to secure an internship. Set up a meeting with a career advisor who will help lead you through your search for an internship.

5) Prepare for Interviews

An internship interview is an opportunity for your interviewer and you to determine your suitability for the position. It is a two-way evaluation of your fit with the organization. Preparation is key to making a positive impression. Take advantage of the interview preparation resources available to you through Career Services such as mock interviews, InterviewStream and interview coaching from alumni.
