About the New Hall
With a total occupancy of 251 residents, the new residence hall is divided nearly equally between two buildings, which are connected via a central commons. Each floor of approximately 30 students contains mostly double rooms, with two singles available per floor, and also has two public bathrooms, one private bathroom, a central lounge, a small kitchenette area, and a private study lounge. A central stairwell, along with an elevator, connects each floor in both buildings.
The central commons has a fireplace, comfortable lounge seating, study tables, a computer workspace with printers, and a full kitchen.
Other amenties within the building include vending machines, and a laundry room. Attached to the building, but with outside access, is a fitness center, equipped with cardio machines (treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes), ab and yoga equipment, dumbbells, and weight machines. The fitness center serves the greater campus community.
The new residence hall was constructed with second-year students in mind. Each floor has a Resident Adviser, and is accommodate both men and women in one community, as each floor has two "wings" with their own bathroom, separated by the shared lounges. The building is also home to an Area Coordinator - a Residence Life professional staff member who lives among the residents and supervises the RAs.
