See a Day in the Life of a Professional!

Offered over the winter break, our job shadowing program provides one-day shadowing experiences in which Davidson students shadow alumni or parent volunteers as they go about their day's work. Through observation and conversation, participating students have the opportunity to learn more about a profession, receive career-related advice, and reflect on the ways in which their liberal arts education can prepare them for life after Davidson.

We currently have over 250 alumni and parent job shadowing hosts signed up in a variety of career fields and geographical locations!

Expectations of Participating Students

The program is open to students in all class years.  Students will be responsible for transporting themselves to and from the job shadowing site as well as providing lodging.

How to Apply

To search for job shadowing experiences, go to WildcatLink between Nov. 12 and Dec. 3, click on the Jobs tab, and select "Job Shadowing" for Position Type. To apply, you will submit a resume and a brief letter to individual shadowing opportunities describing why you are interested in that particular opportunity.  Each student can apply for up to four job shadowing experiences. You will be contacted by Career Services by Dec. 11 confirming if you have been selected for an experience.  If you are the only student who applies for a particular experience and the host is willing to accept you, you will be notified and put in contact with the host to schedule a specific shadowing date.  If more than one student applies for an experience, the host will determine how many and which students he or she is willing to take.
