December 16, 2012 - January 13, 2013
Offered over the winter break, our job shadowing program provides one-day shadowing experiences in which Davidson students shadow alumni or parent volunteers as they go about their day's work. The program allows participating students to receive a firsthand look at the workplace in a career of their choice, make valuable networking contacts and have the opportunity to see how their Davidson education can be applied to real world situations.
Expectations of Job Shadowing Hosts
Serving as a job shadowing host is only a one-day time commitment. You are simply expected to introduce your profession, industry and/or organization, provide a tour of the workplace, and most importantly, allow a student to observe your daily routine. We encourage setting aside 30 minutes or more at the end of the day for reflection and discussion.
Expectations of Participating Students
The program is open to students in all class years. Students apply for job shadowing experiences by submitting a resume and a one-page cover letter detailing their interest in the particular industry and what they hope to learn from the job shadowing opportunity.
Students will be responsible for transporting themselves to and from the job shadowing site as well as providing lodging.

Next Steps
*We are no longer accepting applications for our 2012-13 job shadowing program. Thank you to the 266 participants who have signed up! We will post the sign-up form for the 2013-14 program by Summer 2013.
If you have any questions, please contact Ashley Neff at asneff@davidson.edu or 704-894-2132.
Please note that while we make every effort to advertise your opportunity, we cannot guarantee interest from students. For our 2011-12 program, we were able to match interested students with approximately 70% of participating hosts.
