| Fall Convocation 2010 Boswell Family Faculty Fellowship Citation for Professor Maiz-Pena |
|
November 02, 2010
The description "infectious enthusiasm" is all I need say for most of our faculty, really for just about anyone on campus, to identify our second fellowship winner. Whether she is teaching an introductory language course or an upper division seminar, serving on a faculty committee, or greeting a student or fellow member of the community, she is always caring and effusive.
We have benefited from her commitment to interdisciplinary studies, with her work in Latin America, gender studies, and Latino studies having shown the "integration of knowledge" at its best for many years.
A tireless champion of diversity, she is the first to welcome and to celebrate the richness of difference. We are pleased that we can offer this support to her, as she works on her monographic project, "Urban Geographies, Gender, and Cultural Production in Post-Revolutionary Mexico 1920 to 1950."
We are pleased to honor and to recognize Magdalena Maiz-Peña, Professor of Spanish, with a Boswell Family Faculty Fellowship.
