This faculty member who has now passed his twenty-fifth year with us is an extraordinarily effective teacher, whether in lecture settings or in leading discussion. Moreover, he can truly be described as a "helpful critic." He does not refrain from questioning or challenging. But, underlying any such challenge is a desire for Davidson to be a better institution. And, always any critique is accompanied by a positive suggestion.

This professor of religion has also been a mainstay over the years in our efforts to develop a College-wide composition program. We now look to him and to his keen intellect to help us redesign our College library, both in form and in structure. He richly deserves a full year to work on Venerable Bede's The Ecclesiastical History of the English People.

We are pleased to honor and to recognize Trent Foley, Professor of Religion, with a Boswell Family Faculty Fellowship.
