For Fall 2010, Dr. Mikael Goldmann will be visiting the Department of Mathematics at Davidson and teaching a Cryptography Seminar, CSC 382. Dr. Goldmann is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at KTH, Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. His fellowship to visit Davidson was awarded by the STINT Program for Excellence in Teaching in Sweden. He brings exciting expertise in undergraduate computer science teaching and competition. Dr. Goldmann has taught a wide variety of courses from first year programming to more advanced topics, including Computer Security, Compiler Construction, Complexity Theory, and Cryptography. His innovative and unique course "Problem Solving and Programming Under Pressure" has educated hundreds of KTH students in contest programming, which has resulted in dozens of prizes to KTH teams. Dr. Goldmann has also organized local, national, and international programming contests. In 2002, he won the first teaching award from KTH. Dr. Goldmann also has experience in U.S. academia, from an undergraduate year abroad at Dickinson College in PA and from three semesters as a post-doc at MIT. Welcome Dr. Mikael Goldmann!
