Nancy Catherine Rosselot '85
(Awarded 2010)

The eldest of Dick and Martha Rosselot's three children and thus the first of those three to attend Davidson, Nancy Rosselot arrived on campus in the fall of 1981 ready to set an example not just for her family, but for all of us. Throughout her four years as a student and in the twenty-five years since she has certainly done so - setting that example with the quiet resolve and gentle demeanor that are the hallmarks of her effective leadership style.

She was Phi Beta Kappa, ODK, and a North Carolina Fellow. Here she earned both the Dana and Guttman Honor Scholarships to complement the D. Grier and Louise Martin Scholarship which helped to bring her here from Atlanta. A philosophy major and a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta national pre-med society, Nancy excelled at Davidson both in and outside the classroom. She was a member of PAX, ran track, and served on the Quips and Cranks staff. But perhaps her greatest commitment as a student beyond her studies was to the Honor System. As a junior she was elected Student Solicitor along with a close friend and classmate, Mike Tantillo, who proved his own honor so effectively to Nancy that not long after their graduation the two were married.

Throughout medical school, residency, and now with a successful pediatrics practice and two beautiful children, Davis and Delaney, Nancy has remained deeply devoted to alma mater. She has served on her 10th and 20th Reunion committees, as an adviser to the Davidson Alumni Admissions Program, as an Annual Fund class chair and, with Mike, as co-chair of the Boston area alumni chapter hosting numerous Davidson events there. During the college's last capital campaign, Nancy was instrumental in establishing the Richard G. Rosselot Scholarship, a need-based award in memory of her father. Not surprisingly, she was quick to encourage other members of her family to join in the effort. In 2004 she was elected by the alumni body at large as a vice president of the Alumni Association Board and just last year she and Mike accepted the call to serve Davidson yet again. Currently Ne Ultra Society Vice Chairs, in the coming year the Rosselot-Tantillos will serve as national Ne Ultra Society Chairs, leading the efforts of all alumni to support Davidson most generously. "None higher," indeed, describes Nancy's passion and dedication. So recently, when a group of Davidson students needed a physician to accompany their healthcare-related service trip to Guatemala over winter break, Nancy was an obvious appeal. Again not surprisingly, she has volunteered on this trip each of the past two years.

Nancy, for your innumerable contributions to Davidson College: your time, energy, and enthusiasm; and for the example of service you humbly set and the inspiration that example provides, the Davidson College Alumni Association honors you with the Alumni Service Award.
