What is the College's operating budget? The College's budget is reviewed each fall by the Principal Executive Staff (PES) and the Advisory Council on Finance, Personnel, and Development to consider potential revenues and expenses for the following fiscal year. These two groups recommend a budget to the President (generally in mid-December) and the budget is presented to the Trustees in February for their review and approval.

What is the Capital/Technology (Fund 30) Budget? The capital/technology budget was established in fiscal year 1998 to allow departments to budget for items such as furniture, PDAs, desktop printers, etc., which have a useful life of more than one (1) year and are not purchased annually. NOTE: computers, printers purchased with new computers and networked printers are part of the ITS centralized budget and should not be budgeted for by individual departments. Unlike departmental operating budgets (fund 10), any unspent capital/tech budgets may be carried forward to the next fiscal year. Due to the way our general ledger system works, these unused funds will be credited to and accumulated in a restricted fund, not added to the next year's budget. You may obtain a current balance of your carryforward account on Banner screen FGITBSR.
For example, if a department purchases a $600 PDA every 3 years, they would budget $200 in Fund 30 for this item. At the end of year one, two and three, the unused $200 would be credited to the department's capital carryforward account, accumulating to $600 to be used during year four to replace the PDA.
When are departmental budgets due? Budget packages are generally distributed in March with a due date of early April. You will receive an email from your Vice President and/or Supervisor when budget spreadsheets are available. Budgets are entred into Banner by the Business Services office so that information will be available in Banner on July 1.
