Below is a list of resources, either on-campus or via the internet that address issues from emotional well-being to physical health. 

On Campus Groups  

Changing Minds  A student run organization, in which members provide education to the larger community regarding mental health issues facing college students today.

Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) is a student initiated organization that promotes awareness of GLBTQ issues through programming and other fun activities.

First Responders / Rape Awareness Committee Two groups that work in concert with one another offering support and education on issues pertaining to sexual assault, rape, and incest (past or present). First Responders is a student run group, trained through the Rape Awareness Crisis Center in Charlotte, and available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week for peer-to-peer support and assistance.
The Rape Awareness Committee is also a student run group whose primary aim is to offer educational programming throughout the academic year addressing issues of rape and sexual assault.

For Loving Yourself (FLY) is a student run advocacy group that offers programming around body image, reducing stress and living a balanced life.

You Are Not A Stranger Here (YANASH) is a confidential student group created by students for students who identify as GLBTQ.

Alcohol and Drugs:

GORDIE Foundation The GORDIE Foundation group on campus work to reduce abusive drinking. Gordie was a freshman at The University of Colorado and died from alcohol poisoning. Several students at Davidson College knew Gordie, from boarding school, and wanted to show their support by creating a GORDIE Foundation Chapter here. This group creates awareness around this tragic loss and educates students on recognizing the signs of alcohol poisoning as well as how to help friends avoid problems with alcohol in college.

National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism is a goverment agency that provides current and accurate information on the biological effects of alcohol use. NIAAA seeks to improve prevention efforts, diagnosis and treatment of alcohol use disorders.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is a government agency directed toward improving the lives of people who may be struggling with or at risk for developing a mental illness or a substance abuse disorder.

Tobacco Free Colleges is an organization that seeks to educate the general public on the known dangers associated with tobacco use. In addition, advocates of Tobacco Free Colleges work toward changing the cultural acceptance of tobacco use to eliminating it on college campuses.

Body Image / Eating Disorders: 

Mirror Mirror is a website that provides information on issues related to eating disorders, body image, self-esteem and self-image.

Something Fishy is a website that provides information on resources, current issues and advocacy.

National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Eating Disorders (ANAD) is a website dedicated to informing the general public as well as healthcare professionals on issues related to anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. 

The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA)   is an  organization that provides education, promotes research and offers support to individuals affected by an eating disorder.

Depression:

Mental Health America is a website that provides information, education and support on issues related to depression and other co-occuring disorders.

The International Foundation for Research and Education on Depression (iFred)  is an organization dedicated toward understanding the causes of depression while offering support to those who suffer from it. 

General Health Information:

The American College Health Association is an organization dedicated to the health needs of college and university students.

The National Institutes of Health is a government maintained website that provides information on a variety of topics, including those listed above.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is an organization dedicated to protecting health and promoting wellness through education, programs and research.

NC Health Info is a website that provides users with information and resources specific to the state of North Carolina.

Self Injury:

S.A.F.E. Alternatives is a website that is geared toward helping people find an end to self injurious behaviors.

To Write Love On Her Arms is a non-profit organization that seeks to bring encouragement and hope to those struggling with addiction, depression, self-injury, and suicidal thoughts. 

Sexuality:

Advocates For Youth is a site housing information on sexuality, GLBTQ concerns and advocacy issues. 

Go Ask Alice provides accurate and reliable information on a variety of issues.

Out For Health  is a health site with GLBTQ information.

Planned Parenthood is a site providing information about relationships and sexuality.

Seriously Sexuality is a site with sexuality information.

Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States is an organization that provides education, resources, and archives regarding sexuality research and the history behind current events in the field.

Suicide

The Jed Foundation is an organization specifically geared toward college students. It's primary mission is reduce emotional distress and suicide among college and university students.

Suicide Prevention, Awareness and Support is a website that seeks to decrease the incidence of suicide by strengthening prevention efforts, increasing awareness, educating the public and providing support to individuals contemplating suicide.
