Brian Tapfar

Brian Tapfar was a music major from Westport, CT. He has always been interested in music. During preschool and elementary school, his favorite time of day was always music classes. He played violin until the fifth grade, when he started playing trumpet. Unfortunately, his braces stunted his development as a trumpeter so he was forced to stop playing. In eighth grade he convinced his parents that he would practice if they got him guitar lessons. He has been playing ever since.

During high school he took lessons with Gene Pino and focused on a combination of classical and contemporary techniques with both acoustic and electric guitar. He was a member of numerous groups, including his band, Baio Paco. They competed in and won a regional battle of the bands. The prize was a tour of the Atlantic Records offices in Manhattan and a meeting with some of their A & R representatives.

Brian took bluegrass guitar lessons with Jon Singleton at Davidson College. He is interested in composition and music technology. He is especially interested in the future of the music industry and has had internships at In De Goot Entertainment, Wanduta, and MTV Networks. After graduation, Brian hopes to stay involved in music.
