Dennis Smith is a communications specialist with the Central American Evangelical Center for Pastoral Studies (Cedepca), an ecumenical training center based in Guatemala City. He has worked on issues at the interface between media, religion, and culture in Latin America for more than 30 years, including the period of revolutionary movements in Central America during the '80s. He is currently the president of the World Association for Christian Communication (WACC), an organization that "promotes communication for social change" in relation to issues such as communication rights, monitoring of the representation of gender in the media, and broader social justice concerns related to indigenous peoples, and the environment.
