
Acting Secretary of the Army, Pete Geren, congratulates the newly commissioned 2nd Lieutenants at the Commissioning Ceremony on May 16, 2009. In remarks praising the ideal of the soldier-scholar, Geren said, "I will always remember that today I administered the oath of office to Second Lieutenant Rebecca C. Harrison, Second Lieutenant William J. Haynes III, Second Lieutenant Joshua M. Kohn, Second Lieutenant Jonathan O. Leathers, and Second Lieutenant David M. Palko." The newly commissioned officers graduated from Davidson College on Sunday, May 17 with over 400 of their classmates.

The Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at Davidson College was established in 1918.
