It was a busy summer in the library! We have a number of new services to announce:
- Text a Librarian
Have a quick reference question? Text us, and we'll be happy to respond. This service is simple to use; for the number and code, just log in to view the instructions. (Be sure to use davidson\username when logging in.) We introduced this service during New Student Orientation, and 370 students sent us text messages! Note: the Text a Librarian service is available to Davidson students, faculty, and staff only.
- News updates on Twitter
The reference desk is using Twitter. Get regular updates, news, announcements, and search tips @DavidsonCollLib. https://twitter.com/DavidsonCollLib Have a Twitter account? You are welcome to follow us. Don't have a Twitter account? If you'd like one, simply sign up at https://twitter.com/. It's free.
- Consultation Room
We redesigned the room behind the reference desk, and it is now our new Consultation Room. We'll use this room for research consultations, instruction to small groups, and librarians' office hours.
- Librarians' office hours
Want to sit down with a librarian to talk about your research project? You can drop in during librarians' office hours in the Consultation Room:
- Monday: 1-3 pm
- Tuesday: 3-5 pm
- Wednesday: 3-5 pm
- Thursday: 1-3 pm
(You are also welcome to stop by the reference desk or make an appointment with us. If you'd prefer an appointment, just schedule a research consultation.)
- New issue of Columns, the library's newsletter
Check out the summer edition of Columns, the library's newsletter. This issue contains information about the recent conversion to the Library of Congress Classification System, the new online carrel request system, recent organizational changes, a photograph of the new butterfly garden in the front of the library, and more.
