The default settings in Windows will let you connect to the Davidson network. If your connection does not work initially, your settings may have been changed by a previous network connection or by the computer vendor. Use the following steps to get your settings back to normal.

1. Click Start and then Connect To. At the bottom of this window, click on Open Network and Sharing Center.
2. On the left, choose Manage Network Connections.
3. Right-click on Local Area Connection and then choose Properties.
4. In the list, double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). Check both "Obtain..." buttons and then click OK and then Close.
5. If you are using Internet Explorer, go to Tools, then Internet Options. In the Connections tab select LAN Settings. Only the first option, "Automatically detect settings," should be checked.
