Davidson College Residence Halls

Welcome!  Below, you will find a listing of all of the residence halls on our campus.  In order to help ease students' transition into Davidson, as well as faciliate our response to the needs of first-year students, Davidson College houses first-year and upperclass students separately. 

All residence halls at Davidson have:

  • rooms furnished with a loftable extra-long twin bed (36" x 80"), dresser, desk (with chair), and closet or built-in wardrobe for each resident
  • carpeted bedrooms
  • central air conditioning / heating (with some control in individual rooms)
  • cable TV provided in each room
  • wireless internet (and ethernet connections) in rooms
  • blinds on room windows
  • bicycle storage racks outside of building
  • secure, card-access entry doors

First-Year Residence Halls

Belk Hall
Five floor residence hall in the center of campus housing both first-year and upperclass students.  Belk also houses the Residence Life Office, CatCard Services, and the Student Computing Center.  Belk is the largest hall on campus, and houses up to 308 students.

Cannon Hall
Four floor residence hall located on Dorm Row. Up to 106 students can live in Cannon. Cannon was renovated in 2009.

Richardson Hall
Located near Vail Commons, Richardson has five floors and a total capacity of 138 students.  Richardson was renovated in 2008.

Watts Hall
Four floor residence hall located on Dorm Row.  Watts can house up to 79 students.  Watts was renovated in 2008

Upperclass Residence Halls

Akers, Irwin, and Knox Halls
Set of three nearly identical halls located near Patterson Court.  These 2-story buildings underwent a major renovation in summer/fall 2012 and re-opened in January 2013.  Each building houses 27 students in a mix of single an double rooms.

Duke Hall
Three floor residence hall located on Dorm Row.  Duke houses 94 students and is home to the Dean Rusk International Studies Program.  Three internationally themed halls are also housed in Duke.

Little Hall
Four floor residence hall located on Dorm Row. Little accommodates up to 84 residents.  Little is scheduled to be renovated in Summer 2013.

New Residence Hall
Davidson's newest residence hall (opened in August 2012).  The hall is comprised of two nearly identical buildings - North and South Halls.  North Hall houses 120 students, while 131 students reside in South.  A "Commons" lounge joins the two buildings and consists of a kitchen, dining area, fireplace / living room, and computer room.  

Sentelle Hall
Four floor residence hall located on Dorm Row.   Sentelle houses up to 106 residents.  Sentelle was renovated in 2010.

Tomlinson Hall
Four floor suite-style residence hall housing 128 residents.  Tomlinson also houses the Campus Police Office and a campus computer lab.
