Beloved Daughters: The Photographs of Fazal Sheikh Reception for the Artist: Thursday, October 16, 7 - 9 pm Exhibition: October 17 - December 10, 2008 Beloved Daughters brings together photographs and text from Fazal Sheikh's two most recent book projects that explore the loves of women in India. Moksho (Heaven, 2005) concerns dispossessed widows in the holy city of Vrindavan, who live out their lives in devotion to Krishna, while Ladli (Beloved Daughters, 2007) examines the effects of enduring prejudices against girls and women in Indian society.
