2009 Hall of Fame CelebrationFebruary 24, 2009
Once a year Davidson College celebrates four exceptional athletes’ inductions into the Davidson Athletics Hall of Fame. On January 24 this year’s Hall of Fame honorees—Frank "Rusty" Boyd ’73, Erin Lang Breunig ’94, William H. Jarman ’63 and Jonathan Pastel ’98—stepped forward to be congratulated during the halftime of the women's basketball game versus Appalachian State and the men’s basketball game versus Wofford. President Tom Ross ’72 opened the evening program by congratulating Davidson student athletes of the past and present for both their academic and athletic achievements. He commented on how the Davidson student athlete’s drive for success transcends from playing field into the classroom, and highlighted that this binding character is demonstrated by this year’s Hall of Fame inductees. Director of Athletics Jim Murphy introduced each inductee, presenting their impressive athletic accolades and post-graduation accomplishments. Each inductee then shared some of his or her most gratifying and touching experiences as a Davidson College student athlete. Rusty Boyd ’73, Erin Breunig ’94, Bill Jarman ’63 and Jon Pastel ’98 join an impressive lineage of Davidson athletes in the Davidson Athletics Hall of Fame. An electronic kiosk in the Nisbet Hall of Fame Room in the Baker Sports Complex includes photos and biographies of all inductees.
