Selecting the Best: Davidson’s Hiring Process
Davidson strives to attract, hire, and retain quality employees. To hire accurately, managers needs a selection process that results in the right person for the job. During this course, participants will practice screening candidates through resume reviews and interviews using effective and legal methods for selection. This course is REQUIRED for all managers and supervisors. (3 hours)
Discipline and Dismissal: Improving Performance
Terminating an employee can be the worst part of a supervisor’s job. And if done poorly, it can also be an expensive mistake. Retaining employees and improving performance is the most cost effective action. This course will review Davidson’s disciplinary steps, effective documentation, and the legal issues surrounding discipline and dismissal. This course is REQUIRED for all managers and supervisors.
Performance Management: A Manager’s Guide to the Appraisal Process
The goal of Davidson’s new Performance Management System is to create a work environment in which people are able to perform to the best of their abilities. This course will introduce managers to the process and forms at Davidson and review the tools and resources to facilitate the two-way communication between supervisor and employee. This course is REQUIRED for all managers and supervisors.
Legal Lingo: Leave Laws Affecting Employees
FLSA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA? Which stands for what? Federal and State laws designed to protect the rights of employees (and employers) can be confusing and overlapping. While managers do not need to memorize the ins and outs of each law, this course will introduce managers to the basics of each law and identify the red flags that should prompt a call to Human Resources before proceeding. This course is REQUIRED for all managers and supervisors.
Discrimination and Harassment
Davidson strives to create and maintain an atmosphere of mutual respect at Davidson. All employees must understand Davidson’s harassment policies and equal employment opportunity statement. Managers have a critical duty to prevent harassment and to assist their employees in taking appropriate action if necessary. This course is REQUIRED for all managers and supervisors.
