Rosalba Esparragoza-Scott was born in Bogotá, Colombia. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Philology and Languages from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. She also holds a Master of Arts in the Teaching of Languages: Spanish and TESOL from the University of Southern Mississippi, where she taught first and second year Spanish and was the first-year Spanish coordinator. Esparragoza-Scott has also taught at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she worked as the Spanish Pedagogy Coordinator as well. She is currently teaching at Davidson College.
While at USM, Esparragoza-Scott received the Excellence in Teaching Award and was nominated to Who's Who among American Teachers, being nominated again while teaching at Davidson College.
Ms. Scott is passionate about the use of technology in the foreign-language classroom. She has successfully incorporated the use of blogs, wikis and WebQuests in her instruction. Other areas of interest to her are: Hispanic Immigration, Colombian children's literature, pedagogical methods related to the teaching of grammar and composition, and the teaching of Spanish to native and heritage learners.
Rosalbe Esparragoza Scott is a co-author of the 2nd Edition of Más Allá de las Palabras: A Complete program in Intermediate Spanish. (John Wiley and Sons, 2009).
